Sanford Clinic Sheldon began in 1988 and was previously owned and operated by Dr. Ron Zoutendam. In July 1992, Sanford Clinic Sheldon opened a satellite clinic in Sanborn, IA. The Sanford Clinic in Sheldon opened a new building in 1996 which is attached to the hospital. In 1997, the third clinic was opened which is located in Hartley, IA.

The providers of Sanford Clinic Sheldon provide coverage at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. There is a provider on-call 24 hours a day. The providers at Sanford Clinic Sheldon provide services for the entire family.
